Jimmy Valvano was a high-profile college basketball coach whose underdog North Carolina State team won the NCAA tournament in 1983. He was fired in 1990 under a cloud of scandal but reentered the national spotlight as a basketball commentator. His heroic battle with cancer and subsequent death led to his virtual sanctification within much of the sports community. Bob Valvano, Jimmy's younger brother, does his best to set the record straight. Jim Valvano was neither a saint nor a coaching outlaw. Bob Valvano is a sportscaster based in Louisville, Kentucky. He is a basketball analyst for ESPN and the color analyst for University of Louisville men's basketball games on both radio and television. He formerly coached the Bellarmine University Knights men's basketball team in Louisville. He is also a radio talk-show host on both the national and local level. Mike Krzyzewski is the head basketball coach at Duke University. He has led the team to four NCAA championships and is the coach with the most victories in NCAA Division I men’s basketball history.
